H14 HEPA Filter Manufacturer Tell You Air Flow Knowledge

An H14 HEPA filter is designed for high-efficiency particle removal in critical environments. However, many buyers are confused when filters with the same size show different airflow ratings.

As a professional manufacturer, we produce EN1822-compliant H14 HEPA filters using high-quality glass microfiber media with customized airflow and full quality inspection.

What Is an H14 HEPA Filter?

According to EN 1822, an H14 HEPA filter must achieve:

  • ≥99.995% efficiency at MPPS
  • Individual leak scan testing
  • Strict production quality control

H14 filters are widely used in cleanrooms, pharmaceutical production, hospitals, and precision manufacturing.

The filter media is typically glass microfiber, providing stable high-efficiency performance.

Why Do H14 HEPA Filters With the Same Size Have Different Airflow?

This is one of the most common questions in the industry.
For example, two filters sized 610×610×140 mm may show completely different rated airflow values. Airflow is determined by effective filtration area and structural design — not external dimensions alone.

Key factors include:

  1. Pleat density
  2. Separator structure
  3. Initial resistance
  4. Manufacturing process

A mini pleated H14 filter generally provides larger filtration area and lower pressure drop compared to a traditional deep pleated structure. Size does not equal performance.

Mini Pleated vs Deep Pleated H14 HEPA Filter

Mini Pleated HEPA Filter

  • Compact design
  • Larger effective filtration area
  • Lower pressure drop
  • Suitable for higher airflow systems
  • Common in terminal HVAC systems

Deep Pleated HEPA Filter

  • Aluminum separator structure
  • Traditional layered construction
  • Strong structural stability
  • Often used in industrial cleanrooms

The manufacturing process directly affects performance. Mini pleated filters use hot-melt separators, while deep pleated filters use aluminum foil separators layered between filter paper.

Is H14 HEPA Filter Washable?

This is a very common question.

If the filter media is glass microfiber, the answer is:

No.

Glass microfiber HEPA filters are not washable because:

  • The fiber structure is fragile
  • Washing damages filtration efficiency
  • Efficiency cannot be restored after cleaning
  • H14 classification requires intact media integrity

Washable filters typically use synthetic or chemical fiber media and do not reach true H14 performance. If your application requires washable filtration, the efficiency class must be reconsidered.

Manufacturing & Quality Control

As an experienced H14 HEPA filter manufacturer, we provide:

  • EN1822 compliant production
  • Individual leak scan testing
  • Airflow performance data
  • Pressure drop reports
  • Aluminum or galvanized steel frames
  • Protective aluminum mesh options

Each filter undergoes:

  1. Media inspection
  2. Pleat integrity check
  3. Frame sealing verification
  4. Pressure drop reports
  5. Final efficiency and airflow testing

Test reports and certifications are available upon request.
